After you take a bite of food, it goes into your digestive system, gets processed in your body,
it uses what it needs and then the rest comes out as poo!
There’s no such thing as a perfect poo – it comes in all shapes and sizes, colours and textures.
It’ll probably be different every time you go because your poo reflects what you’ve eaten lately.
Follow this guide to find out more about what might be missing from your diet.
After you eat, it takes about 6-8 hours for food to pass through your stomach and small intestine.
Food then enters your large intestine (colon) for further digestion, absorption of water and, finally, elimination of undigested food. It takes about 36 hours for food to move through the entire colon. 1

- Use positive reinforcement with correct foods and using the toilet to increase their confidence and willingness to create a healthy habit.
