Brushing your teeth
in the morning when you wake up, and at night before going to bed is very important for good dental health, and a regular bedtime routine!
Brush, brush, brush!
- Clean your teeth for two minutes twice a day!
- Why not play your favourite song as you brush?
- Make sure to spit after brushing and don’t rinse your mouth out, otherwise this will remove all the helpful fluoride that’s needed to clean your teeth! 1
Dental health is very important, you only get one set of teeth, and they need to last your whole life, so make sure you look after them!
Brushing helps you avoid tooth cavities, which can lead to serious toothache.
A study by scientists in the USA found that brushing for two minutes removes 55% more plaque (bits of food left in your teeth!), than just brushing for 30 seconds. So, these two minutes are a very important time in your day! 2
Small changes CAN make a big difference – that’s what The 1% Kids’ Club is all about.
- Engage students in a hands-on classroom activity where they can enjoy a snack and then brush their teeth using Plaque GLO toothpaste. This special toothpaste highlights areas they missed, helping them understand where they need to improve.
- During the lesson, emphasise how not brushing can lead to issues like cavities, bad breath, and gum disease. Use simple examples to show that brushing isn’t just about having a nice smile – it’s essential for keeping their whole body healthy.
- Start brushing your child’s teeth as soon as their first baby teeth appear, and schedule their first dental visit shortly after.
- Teach them the proper brushing technique by gently guiding their hand, and make it a fun routine by brushing your teeth together.
- Use a playful 2-minute timer to ensure they brush long enough and create a sticker chart to track their progress, offering a small reward after a week of consistent brushing.
