Be grateful.

Pause to reflect on some things you are grateful for, it’s a great way to be mindful. Being grateful means appreciating the good things in your life, it can be noticing the little things like sunshine in the morning, your parents cooking dinner in the evening and enjoying games with your friends! Can you think of something you are grateful for today?

  • At the end of the day, maybe when you are getting ready for bed. Have a think of good things that happened or a kind thing someone did. Share this with your friends and family to express your gratitude
  • Make sure to always thank those who help you!

You may be grateful for things such as food, people, nature around you or activities you are doing. Noticing these things can bring more positivity to your day and boost your mood! Saying ‘thank you’, can strengthen your friendships and help you make new friends.

Gratitude can also lower stress, making you relaxed like a sloth!

How to Develop Gratitude for Kids

  • Begin each day by having students share something they are grateful for. This can be done as a morning meeting or through a gratitude journal entry.
  • Encourage students to write thank you notes to their classmates, teachers, or family members, which can be collected in an anonymous box placed in the classroom. This practice not only shows gratitude but also promotes kindness and appreciation within the classroom.
  • Set up a calendar for your family to write down something they’re thankful for each day. At the end of the month, spend some time reflecting together on all the things you appreciated.
  • Help your kids start a gratitude journal where they can note the things they appreciate each day. This practice encourages them to focus on the positive aspects of their lives.
