Try taking a few minutes to look at a photo of a loved one.
Looking at pictures of the people you care about can make you feel really happy and loved! These photos remind you of the special connections you have and all the fun times you share with your friends and family.
Photos can be comforting and provide a sense of security, especially during stressful times. Researchers have found that looking at photographs of loved ones, even for a brief period has the power to dull pain by 44%.1
Small changes CAN make a big difference – that’s what The 1% Kids’ Club is all about.
- Start by sharing a few of your own pictures of family or friends. This can help students feel more at ease and encourage them to share their own photos.
- Set up a classroom display where students can pin or hang their photos. This creates a visual reminder of the relationships that are important to them and fosters a sense of community.
- Encourage students to draw or create something inspired by their loved ones alongside the photos. This adds a creative element to the activity.
- Remind students that they should only share what they feel comfortable with sharing.
- Share Your Stories
As you look at each photo, share stories and memories related to the people in the pictures. This helps kids understand the connections and history behind the images. - Ask Open-Ended Questions
Encourage kids to share their thoughts by asking questions like, “What do you remember about this person?” or “What was your favourite moment with them?” This helps spark conversation and deeper connections. - Create a Family Photo Album
Work together to organise photos into an album. Let your child help choose which pictures to include and even write captions or stories for each one.
