When you hear someone say, “Give me five,” “High-5,” or “Up top,” they’re asking for a high-5! This is a fun way to slap hands together to say hello, congratulate each other, or celebrate something great.
Giving someone a high-5 is a fun way to show you’re excited or proud of them. It’s like saying, “Awesome job!” or “We did it!” with just a quick slap of hands. High-5s can build friendships and make you both feel happy.
Have you ever wondered why a simple high-5 can bring feelings of joy? It turns out that there is science behind this seemingly small gesture. Giving high-5s can be just as encouraging as saying nice words! When people get high-5s, they feel more motivated and keep trying hard. Plus, they start to think more positively about themselves and their efforts. So, don’t forget to high-5 to show support.1

- Encouraging everyone to give and receive high fives fosters a sense of community and inclusion, while also promoting teamwork and peer encouragement.

- Use high-5s to recognise effort, not just results. If your child tries hard at something, like learning a new skill, give them a high five to show that you value their hard work, even if they don’t succeed immediately.
